Help Stop Tobacco Tax Parity Act of 2010

Help us Stop HR4439 now before it is too late...

Ok, so hopefully by now you've contacted your local representatives in Congress about stopping HR 4439. If not, you can stand up and be counted using this website.

How else can you help? Get your fellow pipe smokers active in this cause! To make it easier to do so, you'll find attached to this posting a copy of a PDF file that you can print up, cut up and hand out to all you know. This will hopefully make it easy for them to find the Rally Congress site set up to stop this affront to our sensibilities.

Everyone is free to download and use this document to help in this new fight against tyranny!

Gravatar This tax equates a quality, casual, timeless hobby to a cheap-way-out for those addicted to cigarettes. They CANNOT be considered one in the same. In an economy that is still struggling to offer solutions to the thousands without jobs, one must consider that destroying an entire industry will simply add more to the unemployment lines. Pipe tobacco is NOT "Big Tobacco". It cannot take this hit. It should not burden this taxing spree.

Gravatar Yea Yea what do they stand to gain from Elderly people pipe tobacco? Ever heard of this 400 year elderly fad called Hookah? Yea they are preparing to put allot of smoke shops out of business. The shisha AKA Hookah tobacco is thought about pipe tobacco. This means a $12.00 wholesale can of starbuzz will now wholesale at 18.75 now x2 = $37.50 at mail order and basically $40.00 +tax at your local shop.
And to think they elect these *ssholes in to the position to screw us as they feel fit.
I spoke to an importer today. They said it plain and simple. The day it passes they is not importing tobacco anymore. I personally started taking a look at a brand new business as of today as a brand new lifestyle. I will miss tobacco but looks like they will return in the bicycle industry. Great job Obama, congress etc...

I could argue for the positive influence of hookah culture: it brings people together to share and enjoy something. It's a very communal thing. Say goodbye to your local hookah bars.

Gravatar This would effectively take the tax rate per pound of pipe tobacco from the current $2.8311 to $24.78. It will have devastating effects to the pipe tobacco industry. Not to mention it will make it mush more difficult to enjoy a casual smoke. Pipe tobacco is in a whole different category than roll-your-own tobacco and should not be considered to be the same.

Gravatar It is better to completely stop tobacco as it is very harmful and it should not be consume to much extent. I know there are many people who use pipe and for that they need tobacco, but tax should not be added with it.
